ToggleNEET Counselling 2024: Your Ultimate Guide to Securing an MBBS Seat
As NEET 2024 results are announced, aspiring medical students across India are gearing up for the next crucial phase—NEET counselling. Navigating this process can be overwhelming, but with the right guidance and preparation, you can secure your dream MBBS seat. Here’s everything you need to know about NEET counselling 2024.
Understanding NEET Counselling
NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is the gateway for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses in India. Post-exam, the counselling process is conducted to allocate seats to qualified candidates based on their ranks and preferences. NEET counselling is conducted at two levels:
- All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling: Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), it covers 15% of seats in all government medical and dental colleges across India.
- State Quota Counselling: Conducted by respective state authorities, it covers the remaining 85% of seats in government colleges and all seats in private colleges.
Steps to Participate in NEET Counselling
- Registration: Visit the official MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in) for AIQ counselling or your state’s official counselling portal for state quota. Register using your NEET roll number and other required details.
- Choice Filling and Locking: After registration, fill in your preferred colleges and courses. Ensure you lock your choices before the deadline.
- Seat Allotment: Based on your NEET rank, preferences, and availability, seats will be allotted. The results will be published on the official counselling portal.
- Reporting to Allotted College: If you are allotted a seat, report to the respective college with the required documents for verification and admission
- Subsequent Rounds: If you are not satisfied with your allotted seat or didn’t get a seat in the first round, you can participate in subsequent rounds.
